Not practical for me, and pricey. OK, maybe it is worth it, and it is pretty well done.

That is sweet but even with how nice it looks in the photos I think that price is a little high for what it is. Points for a TDI Beetle though.
I've always liked the air cooled VW bug pickup conversions. I've never seen a water cooled one. Looks well done.
I also think it was well done, but $13K for one with this many miles is difficult to swallow. I also wonder if there's enough legroom - that was always the issue with my factory made Caddy (VW Pickup).
Looks like a Smyth kit. $4K for the ute kit alone, plus paint. And a Beetle TDI in good condition is pretty rare these days (they were never popular). So I can see the seller getting that price eventually. 172K is low miles for a 24 year old TDI.
I was thinking the same as Ian. It's probably a reasonable price if you're looking for one. The market is probably not very deep though, so who knows?
Leg room is the same as normal Beetle. I don't think seat movement is drastically affected so if you are comfortable in a Beetle or a VW Mk IV you'll probably be fine.
