NMNA

1953 American LaFrance fire truck for $2100. You could sell off all the fire truck apparatus to recoup some of the investment. Located in Georgia, I don't know what the GVW is, but in New York you can drive up to 17,999 lbs before a CDL is required.

Some local people I know have this for sale.

They're super nice people, although the story I heard is they bought it with intent to use it for window-washing.

There was a guy in Montgomery, AL in the 80s that had fire truck somewhat like this one that he used for a lawn spraying business. It looked more like the one beside the one for sale in the pic.

E36 M3, take a look at these guy's ebay store.

That 35 top speed is the tachometer. Speedo goes to 60 iirc. I have one just like it.

Then why does the tach show mileage?

It says 'motor miles', so my guess is that that is like an early hour meter for engine service intervals.

Motor miles is for the 80% of the engine run time that is spent pumping, in this case 800 gallons per minute.

The carb setup on the flathead v12 was pretty cool: regular carb hooked up to the pedal with another throttle body underneath hooked up to a throttle lever on the pumping panel. Get to fire, hop out, shut throttle on pump panel, hop back in cab and lock the gas pedal on the floor. Engine stays idling due to pump throttle shut. Once you need to move water you ramp up out at panel.

According to most firemen I talked to the v12 and its radiator setup were good for days stationary pumping water or about 50 miles over 50 mph. The engine is supposed to be a cast iron version of the Auburn aluminum copy of a Lycoming, 472-ish ci and something around 200hp.

I know a guy who converted a truck just like that into a two-deck race car carrier. I think he gets three cars on it, plus tires, plus a trailer.
