I was going to build a d16 high compression N/A screamer. Change of plans and this stuff needs to go to fund my new project.
$900 package deal for everything, which should be good for 170+ whp with a good intake manifold and header.
I'll consider parting things out if someone doesn't want it all. Located in NH. I will ship at buyer's expense.
What this package consists of:
Honda of America Racing Team prepped D16Y8 head. extrude honed ports, all new manifold studs. REALLY nice. Sorry the pics aren't the greatest, but the ports are a work of art. This motor was actually featured in a 1999 issue of GRM, it made 150 whp ON THE STOCK CAM
Rocket Motorsports Custom D16Y8 billet cam. 11.6mm of lift, 250/240 duration, 108 LSA. Cam card posted below. Lobes are big enough that the head needed some clearancing(which has been done). I clayed it in a Y8 block and there is no valve interference with the included pistons.
Rocket Motorsports Valve Springs
OEM Honda PDN Pistons. These are from a civic CNG. In a D16 block with Y8 head, compression is somewhere from 12.5-13.0:1 depending on head gasket and deck height. Comes with PDN Rods as well
Brand New in Box OEM Honda piston rings
Brand new in box OEM Honda "Pink" rod bearings
D16Y8 valve cover with 2 10AN bungs welded on behind the baffles.
PDN pistons are hard to find. As I understand it the combination of PDN pistons and the closed cc of thy y8 head yields very tight quench, fast burn, excellent combustion chamber dynamics, and is also very resistant to detonation. Joseph Davis (well known tuner in NC) runs PDN pistons and a y5 head (same combustion chamber) and runs it on 87 octane. The car made 135whp on a stock cam and gets 47ish mpg hwy. That's right 12.5:1 compression, 87 octane.

In the right chassis this would really surprise some people. Here's a link to a much simpler build for those who don't understand what a N/A sohc 1.6 honda is capable of. http://www.d-series.org/forums/naturally-aspirated/109270-13-2-101-daily-driven-sohc-all-motor.html
I'm not in the market, but I thought I could contribute a bit since there seems to be little Honda love around here.
Thanks for chiming in.
Yes, these pistons are VERY hard to find as they only put them in fleet vehicles and they were never really sold otherwise. And the Y8/ PDN combo is probably the best OEM head/piston combo due to what you mentioned. Combined with the extrude honed head and big boy cam this should be good for ITR levels of power in a motor that keeps an extra 80lbs off those nose compared to a B18 swap, and at a fraction of the price.
