I got a line on a cheap one with supposedly good engine. Only problem no title and vin plate is missing. Honestly I really just need a vin plate if I were the sketchy type.

I parted out a POS '68 2000 and I thought I had the plate but I must've confused it with the plate from the POS 240Z I parted out.

I'm still hacked - I pulled the 240Z rotten dashboard out and stripped it.

The dash was so nasty and I had E36 M3 everywhere. I accidentally tossed it and never pulled the VIN plate off of the dash. I still think about using those plates until some FBI guy shows up.

I believe you can have new vin tags stamped for replacing them

There was a Datsun parts guy in Wisconsin that showed up in the 90's at the Dairyland Datsun meet at Road America (Bob Dicke).

He had a dozen roadsters in various stages and I accused him of moving the license and vin plates from car to car along with only one car's worth of insurance.

My '66 1600 never came with a dash VIN tag. The VIN was only on the under hood rectangle tag (similar to the Z picture above) and on the frame rail.
