Find me something cool to road trip TX to CT

I'm going to San Antonio, TX on December 1st. So far only booked a one way flight (credit from a failed 2020 trip). Right now I'm considering buying something and bringing it back to CT. Or if there is something nearby that you want and are somewhere East of TX I could acquire it for you. I kinda have too many cars already so this is mostly for something fun to do. 
 

Only a couple of requirements. 
1. It would be nice if would actually make the trip without mechanical catastrophe. Plan on leaving San Antonio on Monday the 6th and need to be back in CT for something on Saturday the 11th.

2. Budget, up to $5k for something that I may keep for myself, maybe up to 10k for something to drive back and flip.

3. I am open to motorcycles as well as cars/trucks. 
 

This is what I currently own so if you think there's anything I'm lacking I n my line up look for one of those  

99 Chevy Silverado - beater truck / future 5.3 swap donor

12 MINI Cooper S - practical car with 6MT

08 Audi A4 Avant - practical car but with Quattro, snows, and 6MT

11 VW Touareg - Soccer mom vehicle, lend it to my parents, tow hauler

90 Mazda Miata - the answer 

02 Porsche Boxster - project car

02 VW Cabrio - another project

06 Ford Collins chassis bus - HOME

22 Honda Grom SP - fun haven't, gas saver

05 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 - wheelies and 4wd fun. 

I would say my XJR but it might not be ready by the 1st lol

I'm very glad I posted this. The GRM community has a way of finding interesting vehicles. I was finding much more normal and boring vehicles.

Once you have that Silverado value, can you buy a TX Silverado for the same price?  If yes, or at a close price, get yourself a rust free' 99-ish Silverado and offload your beater Silverado 

My Silverado is just a beater. Got it cheap only a couple weeks ago. I don't plan on keeping it much more than the winter. I'll either sell it whole or get the 5.3 out for a swap. 
 

I don't do a lot of truck things but it is nice to have. Or I could just buy a utility trailer to tow with the Touareg.

There a few I'm going to follow up on. I think the top two right now are the Thunderbird and Ranchero. The Crown Vic is up there as I've always wanted one of those. The Volvos are intriguing. The Bonneville is definitely up there too.

The used car market is really weird right now, so who knows if this is still true, but f you're looking for a money-making flip its always seemed that pickemup trucks in Texas sell for a discount to anyplace else, especially the Northeast.

I'm looking for a tow vehicle if your truck is reasonably clean..

Sadly it's pretty rough (rear frame included). Friend selling almost tried talking me out of buying it and didn't recommend doing any towing with it. 

Did you ever pull the trigger on anything?

Nothing yet, but I've been browsing Facebook and Craigslist every day.
