Think I've found a replacement for my DD, so the Touareg is going on the market. KBB/NADA say $14-16k, for a GRMer, $13k takes it.
Carfax is showing I'm the 5th owner, but if you look at it closely you'll see Owners 1 and 2 were the same and owner 3 was a dealer for 1 week before they sold it. So really I'm the 3rd owner. Guy I bought it from had it ~6 years, and it was CPO'ed when he got it. He wasn't a wrench and had the dealer do all the work, which was just regular maintenance. Nothing has really ever broken on this, I've got pretty much all the service records since new.
Here's my thread on it, I've just done maintenance too. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/tow-rig-ooops-touareg-the-diesel-hauler/262500/page1/. I'm averaging 24-25mpg in my ~9 miles mixed commute, it regularly gets 30+mpg on a freeway drive and can tow 7700lbs. It's got 115k miles on it, has the Malone Stage 2 ECU tune and their pre diesel gate TCU tune on it. All emissions equipment is still installed and working properly. It's a strong runner and a very comfortable car, with strong hvac, front heated seats, factory hands free Bluetooth and XM radio.
It's getting to the mileage where I'd do a valley reseal, all the parts from FCP Euro cost ~$350. At the same time I'd clean up the carbon deposits from the intake. I'm including two sets of wheels/tires, snow and all season. The snows are 18", the all seasons are 20", both sets are in good shape and have a few years left in them. Interior is in great shape, with the exception of a small crack in the hvac screen. Exterior is also in great shape, with the exception of a few dings in the right rear door and the right front fender flare has some broken tabs. No accidents, no rust, no stories.
I've got a set of front 18z brake calipers I can include for another $250, for an OEM+ front brake upgrade.
I'm in Denver, Colorado. Shoot me an email thru here if you're interested. I've got a Word document of all the services as well as a .pdf with a bunch more pictures.
