Well all of them are recalled and are supposed to be unable to drive right now, so not a good deal at all.

I was looking recently because I was curious whether the prices of these were getting hammered by the recall, and based on what I was seeing, that's a good deal.

If I could find a Bolt for a steal, I'd go for it. Park it outside in the driveway or on the street and wait for GM to come through with the battery replacement. Once that's done you have a cheap EV with a brand new battery, enjoy.

I've seen a few driving around the last few days. I've been VERY tempted to get a bolt.

That's either a cheap electric car, or a really expensive battery fire.

I suspect the prices are not being hammered too badly because of the "...and then it gets a brand new battery!" mindset.

A 2020 isn't going to have any noticeable battery degradation now, so the "new battery!" thing isn't really significant. Other than the fact that the new one won't catch on fire :) Hopefully. I guess it depends on how much you want to put a bunch of money into a car you won't be able to use too much until the replacement comes through, and I don't believe there's a timeline for that yet.

You can still drive them, it's just that the suggested GM restrictions are fairly intense. And the incidence rate is pretty darn low so I suspect a lot of Bolt drivers are continuing as usual.

That seems fair.  I was looking at some a year ago and you could get into one with like 20k miles for $11k.

Its an interesting proposition.  Like Keith said, you can use it for now, but its fairly restrictive, the most annoying of which is:  can't park it in the garage.  And who knows how long the battery supply issues will take to be sorted.  Hopefully its not another Takata airbag recall...
