That would get me in trouble if it were closer.

Yes, thank god it's in CT... and it would be very difficult to pick up.

One.  One is the maximum number of drives to new England I will make in a 12 month window to buy hopeless cars..   .  I think

Well, that's probably the only Lotus Esprit I'd ever be able to afford.

That has a very GRM look about it.  Pistons and rods in a box loose is a tad concerning

And the frame sitting on the ground isn't?

That would make a nice submarine.

At this point, I'd want it just for the body/interior and the title (assuming it has a valid one).  I think it'd benefit from a custom chassis, and maybe a K24 swap, all of which are far beyond my time and ability right now.  I thought Esprits were pretty much some of the best looking exotics of that era.

I swear fluently in British and that heap does look like it'll need a lot of swearing.

If I recall correctly, I think these things came with weak transaxles and inboard brakes, which makes any kind of swap pretty complicated.

In reply to Woody (Forum Supportum) :

I was thinking ditching all the Lotus mechanicals and cramming a FWD transverse drivetrain in there would be the best option.  Major rear frame surgery would probably be required, but at least it's already disassembled...

In reply to eastsideTim :

I don't think a transverse drivetrain would be an easy fit, but a longitudinal one like one out of an Audi has been fitted to them in the past. IIRC there's at least one in the UK fitted with a 4.2L Audi and a suitable manual box.

5 cylinder turbo might need some surgery though, but the four bangers and the V6/V8 should fit with some angle grinding.

Probably wouldn't fit, but you know they make an adapter to put a ford 302 on one of those...

Wonder what could be done with Chevy bolt or Nissan leaf motors...

If it is in THAT many pieces, is it a kit car now?
