I don't know. Reality is the 74 to 89 911 is by far the best. Less likely to rust (esp 76 and on) can be dd and yet simple enough to work on. 964 and 993 are over rated and long hoods look the best but rust horribly and not as easy to live with as a dd.

I have an 85 911, 87 911 turbo, and 96 993....all in great shape. I thought similar to you until I spent some time in a 993, it's a hell of a car and I don't think they're overrated at all.
I've spent plenty of time on all and dd a 996. The 996 is worlds ahead of a 993 for daily use, yey is heavy and overly complex compared to real 911s. If the 996 had never happened, I might think different but when the 993 was new, I still prefered my 76. Of course I was 28 and loved to drive tail out.

I want a 996tt....one of these days I plan to pick one up. Out of my trio I'm not sure which I'd consider the best. I've owned the 85 the longest, so I'm partial to it.
I want a 996tt as well. I guess of all the unmodified 911s, a 76 carrera would be nice
Essentially a lighter sc.
Dad just sold his 1983 911SC (euro/ROW car) with a lot of work done to it. 2600#'s with him in it, 230 rwhp.
He had it up on the PCA board and had no less than 10 requests to see it in person in less than a week. He had it up for $33k, no original motor but a ton of motor work done plus a ton of spare parts.
Sold it locally to a guy with a brand new twin turbo S (who dailies a panamera S). (within two weeks of putting it up for sale.)
Supposedly "book" on a concourse ready 930 car is up around 60-80k.
My guess is that motor cost a tin to build. 20k range anyway

His SC sounds like it would have been a blast.
A concourse 930 is way more than 60-80k.
Concourse-ready 930s are six figures these days, although it's still possible to find some for $60k-80k, but they're of dubious quality or provenance.
