Hey all,
My beloved '00 Subaru OBS wagon got creamed during last weekend's snow storm, so I'm on the hunt for a replacement. Cash in hand, needed sooner than later.
Ideally searching for another NA manual trans Subie wagon with maintenance records and little to no body rust, but that's tough in the northeast, so willing to travel. Also open to other makes/models/similar utilitarian vehicles.
I certainly wouldn't mind a WRX wagon either, and would also consider a Forester as well.
Please let me know what you have or what you've seen! Thanks!
-Brian
A Subie specialist in Gainesville FL has a 04 Forester. The website is D&L performance.

Thanks for the heads up!
Are you local to Florida? Do you know and trust the shop?
I'd LOVE a rust free southern car, and willing to drive or fly down to buy a guaranteed good example, but it's so hard to be sure without seeing it or having somebody check it out for me.
I'll check out the website
For anybody willing to help me find a good car and maybe even check it out for me, I'm happy to pay a modest finders bonus. Everything up north here is rusty

Lets say it tops out at $10k, ideally looking in the $6-$8k range though. A nice WRX isn't cheap.
Lots of used BMW wagons, very few manuals tho but they're there. One in Atl right. There's more 3 series than 5s
Greenwood Motorsports (who have been mentioned here in the past) has this e46 wagon http://gmswagons.com/listings/2004-bmw-325xit-5-speed-sport/
Lots of miles but it looks pretty good, and within your budget.
I'm in Gainesville, if you need local assistance.

That's the first BMW wagon that has appealed to me so far. Maybe it's the wheels?
I really liked the recent Greenwood article, and have to imagine those guys are super trustworthy. Evanston is a few towns over from where I grew up too. Thanks for the suggestion.

THANKS! I'll browse the Gainesville area ads a bit. Everything is rusty up here. It's stupid!
Don't know if this would interest you, but how about an '05 CR-V? It is an AWD EX with a manual transmission, approximately 168-169K miles for $3,800. Plus? No sales tax for a FL resident (don't know how it works if you are an out-of-state resident). Minus? Clear coat is peeling in places, two different brands of tires, and I thought that it sounded a bit noisy....even for a Honda.
Oh, double, big time minus: it is currently in Lake City, FL. And Lake City is about 2 hours from any big airport.
www.sre4kids.com under vehicle sales.
If you consider a MZ5 a wagon my 6spd is probably going to be for sale. I’ve owned it since new, it’s a ‘12. Email me if interested vdblyou at yahoo
Thanks for the suggestions everyone, and sorry for not following up sooner. I bought the cleanest WRX wagon I could find within 3 or 4 hours. It's lightly and tastefully modded, and despite everyone warning me against buying a modded example, I kicked all the tires extra hard before buying it, knowing it would need a few things right off the bat. It's a little more boy racer than I'd like, but again, cleanest low mileage example I could find locally. Now to learn all about turbo drama, swap back to non HID headlights and replace all the mushy mounts !
I want one, but my lancer Ralliart wagon won't give me a reason to change cars.
I'm supposedly first in line for an unmodified one owner 04 wrx wagon when the owner is ready to sell. We'll see, I may never hear from him.
In reply to Floating Doc :
This thing is quick and definitely fun to drive, but apparently any and all rubber bushings found in all the WRX models are garbage and only last 60-70k miles?!
Good luck landing that one you have your eye on though!
