We have a real 53 xk 120. My fathers really but this would be fun to come in sideways when he is visiting. He might just lose it.

Ford 300 truck engine? That's what I'm thinking.
Too heavy......I was thinking of an idea I've had for quite awhile....a Suzuki Verona six , hooked to a Miata 6-speed. Keep the car as light as possible.
Edit: Maybe throw on a GM 3800 supercharger for a little extra oomph.

Why no love for the 5.0? It's already in there.

If you see one of those they don’t have the same style and elegance of the original. Proportions are just far enough off that they look funny.
Sort of like those Volkswagen engined MGTD replicas. Just close enough so it looks almost OK but just wrong!

Why not use a Jaguar engine? It’s really reliable. 4 valve per cylinder. All aluminum. They are cheap and readily available in junkyards. Used until late in the late 1990’s.
Or if you want the Iron block 4.2 that was designed during the 2nd World War. First as a 3.4 later as a 3.8 and finally a 4.2 manufactured until about 1987 but it’s a big heavy beast.

I have a deep lust for the real XK 120.

And Today I Learned the Suzuki Verona and its transverse straight 6 are a thing.
Can't say that I've ever seen one..though if I did I know it wouldn't have made me curious in the least to know whats under the hood.
I had a XK 120 hardtop a few years ago , they are big and heavy , my trailer was hurting pulling it home 100 miles ,
This is just a cheap plaything , get it running if possible for cheap and see how terrible it is ,
If you can live with it , throw some rally stickers on it , get a leather cap and a scarf that blows in the wind and drive it with pride :)

1JZ or 2JZ?

Better yet have Scotty J and me come over in it and do hole shots in front of your house at midnight when your dad is visiting
I really want this, oh my gosh.
I think it might be the same kit as this one, which looks pretty good to me honestly.

I'd sell off all the 302 stuff and go electric however.

The Daewoo XK inline six is quite interesting to me but it seems to be basically unknown. I went looking for information online like what bellhousing pattern they came with and I got zero. 150hp which actually isn't horrible for the intended application. Pretty sure it's all aluminum.
I think I'd rather mess with a BMW inline six or maybe an Aussie Ford inliner.
In reply to pres589 (djronnebaum) :
It is all aluminum, that's why I find it interesting. 150HP, all aluminum, and pretty short to fit sideways. I've had ideas of having one in a Miata, sorta modern day Healey.
