Those body kits (Greenwood?) were super popular in the 80s. Not my thing either but it isn't a one-off, anyway.
Having owned two C3 "fixer uppers" in the past, I would reserve judgment as to the value until I saw pictures of the bottom of the birdcage and the rear frame. That said, the plus of having the windshield removed is you can see the upper birdcage, would looks passable (albeit from a distance). If it truly has a 283 engine (and not a 327 or 350), that is NOT a selling point. Hopefully it is a typo, and is really a 383. It would be an interesting street rod build as a Greenwood racer wannabe. As for the price, just wait a while. I've seen C3 basketcases sit unsold for 1-3 years on the Corvette Forums C3 For Sale website. I'd consider it at half the price, which is what the seller will probably get 1-2 years from now (assuming the frame is solid). If the frame isn't in great shape, it's just a parts car given it's current condition.
A guy I was stationed with bought a C3 in a similar shape. Spent literally ALL of his money on it and a "500HP 400ci" smallblock. Didn't have any money left over for the rest of the drivetrain, didn't have money for nothing. It stayed in the same shape, in the same spot till he got out
With everything bad about that Vette, the one barrel carb on the intake makes me irate.
Saw this beauty yesterday,
