TLDR:
Looking for a Mazda5, or Honda Oddesy, under $4K
The rest of the story:
The insurance settlement (still not done, only been 2 and a half months
) is coming in too late for getting the $2900 Mazda5 from on here, but if we combine the camper payout, with the highlander payout, we can almost afford something not quit as nice as the highlander was (no one need to defend insurance... it's all been said elsewhere)
We KNOW an Oddesy will do everything we need, but have not been able to afford one nicer than we had. A Mazde5 we THINK will do, and gets better mileage.
Has to be on the inexpensive end, but still dependable enough for her to drive while I'm working out of town.
So, no longer interested in the Corolla?
Actually, that's one of the one offs, that I think my wife will approve, and still highly interested
Still can't go top dollar, but way up from zero !

Have you had the chance to check it out any?
In reply to 03Panther :
No. Will just be trusting the guy. It'd be shipped to me. Won't be looking for top dollar from a GRMer. Wondering how much a trans would be. Can't be too hard to swap on a 93, right?
Transmission looks like $400 on car-part.com

VERY easy cars to work on.
Other than not liking driving or working on thems new-fangled Furrin' fwd things, that should be about as easy as they get!
and, assuming it is 5 speed, who needs 4th , anyway!
my first car was a 64 Comet 6cyl 3 speed. Non synchronized first gear. No 2nd gear. I'm a double clutchin' fool, after driving that for a few months, scraping up change to buy reair parts.
