Please tell us about her so we don't hafta call Harry...
It was junk back then and likely bigger junk now. I don't know if it is the same car, but I bought it locally and it ended up in Wellsboro. Then a few years later I saw it again at Carlisle Import weekend. From memory it had an emblem on the back that said 455, sat on 13x7 or 8" Alley Cat wheels, had the entire trans tunnel cut-out. Lots of rusty 1" tubing, bad fiberglass and the wheels were the only redeeming feature.
The LoCost/McSorley that I'm selling is a WAY better project!
Duttons didn't exactly have a reputation as a very high quality product in the UK, so I can't say I'm surprised.

Yep. Clear as mud.
a 231 v6 I get. The tiny V8, I could see. A 455 would weight as much as the car!!!

Poor little machine has been abused and put away wet many time, but alas, it has a new life!!!!
Its now been stripped down and getting sand blasted back to a new life! Looks like its had a minimum of 2 different drivetrains and a bunch of ******* butchering by totally stupid hacks.
Its just another hot rod basically and it will be better than new in no time. Plan is to fit Chev 4.3 V6 and a 5 speed, new diff and upgrade the suspension. Rebuilding it so it will not need to be attacked by angry beavers to perform any work on all sections.
Many thanks for your posts and I was very happy to find this forum
Cheers

Congrats! Be sure to post the progress in the Builds section of the forum.
The 455 refers to stretching the frame versus the standard locost 7 book dimensions.
4" wider x 4" longer 5" higher
+ 221, +4 , +442 are pretty typical frame mods in the Locost world.
I went down this rabit hole several years ago.

Don't know that I'll ever need to know that but I'm glad to know that! Thanks.

OK got that and that seems to be the right answer, but- ( there is allways a but !)
There are 2 plates on the car, one shows Buick Power and the other shows the 455
UK registration shows this as having motor displacement of 7500 CC, converted this become 455 cubic inch capacity. Could of this mean it had a Buick 455 motor when new??
I am leaning towards the 4 + 5 + 5 angle personally. Is There any way to get a sort of build sheet for a Dutton?
History is amazing. Many thanks
Johnno
PS its staying RHD!

Congrats on the purchase; it sounds like the car found the right home to get a new lease on life! I've always liked Sevens and the like, so I'll look forward to following the progress.
