Prepped for Peking-to-Paris Rally, but not run. Interesting piece for the right Mazda/rally fan. Looks to have some interesting garage-mates, too..

This belongs to a friend of mine, he always has something neat for sale. If anyone thinks it's cool enough to go look at let me know and I'll go with you.

Oh, you son of a b*tch... it's even brown.

My parents had a 1982 626 in the same color with the same interior. Loved that car. It wasn't  the car I learned to drive on, but it was the one that I always begged for the keys to. Truly a Japanese BMW for its time. I've always said that I'd buy a good brown one if I could find one, but I haven't seen a nice one in years. Not sure that I'd commit to a rally prepped example though.

Can you get photos of the cage and the cage-to-roof rack welding?

Wonder how long this would last with maximum rustproofing applied, using it as a normal car- which for us means driving it to every rally we're not towing to.

Unmarried Woody would have bought this already.

What is that green car to the left?

Looks like a Giugiaro design, but I'm drawing a blank on exactly what kind of car it is.

I would have thought that everybody on GRM was a member of the "Obscure Cars for Sale Group" laugh

Ad says $9,500

Google image search tags it as a one-of-one Honda concept car, the 1976 Honda Lady, based on Civic mechanicals, and designed and built by Coggiola Carrozziere (the folks that brought us the Saab Sonett). Don't know how it ended up in Akron.

Right now married Woody is working on his "this is once in a lifetime" speech to wife, which it kind of is.  (Tell her DatsunGuy said that)

I learned to drive stick (really drive, not the first time I made one move) on a brown four-door 1981 626. I have similar feelings to Woody, I'd love to find a clean one and give it a restomod - a Miata engine and trans would probably be a lot of fun.

But not this one. Too much heritage, you'd only be a steward of it and not an owner.

Thank you.

I messaged him directly through FB.

Unfortunately, that roof rack has four posts through holes in the roof and welded directly to the roll cage. That would be hard for me to live with. I was hoping that maybe it mounted through the sunroof opening which, being a Luxury edition, I think this car has.

Not going to happen. (Sad trombone...)

Interior and cage photos indicate that it is far too "purpose built" for me.

That's unfortunate about the cage. It's so damn cool looking otherwise.

I think that's why there weren't many cage/interior photos on the ad.
