Mine, very much affiliated.
My plan was/is to put it back to almost stock and then sell it, but if someone on here is interested I'll consider selling it as is for a quick turnaround as I have some unexpected additional expenses on the RX8.
Story with the car is that it's a local low-owner car (IIRC I'm the third owner) that was in storage for over a decade. I've never talked to the original owner, but one of my fellow local SCCA club guys knows both the car and the original owner, actually did some work on it in the early 2000s and was able to confirm the story. It's always been completely stock (most importantly, stock boost) until I got my hands on it. I've never turned up the boost either, other than the intake and the light blue cam cover the engine is completely stock. It's also the more desirable 93-on model with the slightly bigger brakes, 15" stock wheels and revised suspension geometry.
As is basically means:
- Car as is, with TRD springs, Yellow Konis, Moroso oil pan, aftermarket head unit, HKS boost gauge, ARC intake and stock strut bars. Comes with stock wheels with rather worn Rivals, and €stock seats. Stock oil pan, stock radio and intake come with it, but aren't fitted.
- The original owner had the faces of the seats dyed grey instead of black. Don't ask me why, I don't know.
- It has an OEM Momo shift knob from a Japanese special edition on it as the original had been removed
All the known major issues are fixed (oil leaks, maintenance catchup), it has had a new distributor (that's brand new OEM Toyota, not backstreet refurbished) last year and Toyota confirmed that the transmission is in good shape. The suspected transmission oil leak was actually the distributor leaking oil like there was no tomorrow.
Known small issues:
- The ARC intake rattles at lot RPM
- There's an occasional suspension clunk from the front passenger side that I haven't identified yet that persists even after I replaced the ARB link
- The oil level light occasionally comes on, that's due to a damaged float on the sensor. A replacement sensor comes with the car.
- It has the typical desert sunburn on part of the front bumper cover - basically it has a 'mustache'. I don't want to get it repainted atm as it'll detract from its originality.
If someone wants it like this without me spending more money and time on it, I'll take $7k from a GRMer. If you spent any time on ebay or MR2OC you know that's a very good price for a rust-free, low-mileage 93-on turbo.
