Lumina with 3800SC Swap

1993 Chevrolet Lumina 4 door
Automatic transmission
Supercharged 3800 V6 engine swap
3.2in supercharger pulley, 3inch downpipe, no cat. Tuned with HP Tuners. Must run 93 octane. OBD2 swapped.

Lowered in Intrax springs up front. Lowered monoleaf in the rear. Rides decent for a lowered car.

Pretty spartan interior but nothing ripped out. No A/C. Crank windows. Decent older Pioneer Headunit. New battery. The heat works great.

You can daily drive this or drive it on the weekends like I used to.

Comes with extra parts (New old stock rocker panel, Recaro Police interceptor seats, two alloy wheels I was going to put drag radials on, other odds and ends).

There is a soft (rusty) spot in front of the rear wheels. The clear coat isn't in great shape. The hood is hard to open. It has completely stock brakes. It drips a little coolant, I think out the bottom of the reservoir. Needs an oil change but comes with a filter and oil.

For being ancient, it drives and rides good.

Price is $1000 firm. That is my absolute bottom dollar. No payment plans.

I really hate luminas but this is very tempting for some reason. 

And you've got $1000 in budget to drop another 3800SC between the rear wheels.

Grandpa gave my son a '95 Lumina when he was 16.  The scars are still in my mind.

I got PTSD from the rear brakes.  The only time those cars didn't have a mushy, low pedal was after the rear calipers seized.  So many comebacks, and not a damn thing you could do about it.

I have a 98 Lumina sitting in my driveway. How hard is it to find a Supercharged 3800 engine and how much would it cost?

98 should be plug and play with a engine and trans and pcm from a gtp or regal gs.  Like plug right into the c100 connector on the firewall and bolt in, because the non SC series 2 3800 was optional that year in luminas.  They're pretty cheap engines to get your hands on, or a wrecked/rusty donor

I got lifetime calipers for my 94 at advance and kept trading them in off it, my sister's 90 and my mom's 91.  I used to have the w body front strut tool kit.  I still have the american racing wheels i put on my 94 when i got it(because it was slid into a curb and i bought aftermarket wheels for $500 instead of 2 stock ones for $50)

The line Chris Farley said about "you could put E36 M3 in a box with a warranty, it's still E36 M3 in a box" was written about W-body rear calipers, I think.  It was awesome when Chevy updated the Lumina to take rear drums, and coil springs.  Replacing calipers was a guaranteed comeback.

I was wondering how long it would take you to get here. 

I would really like to find a police style push bar for my Lumina and take it rallycrossing. 

Anybody know where I can find one.

I did fleet repair in the 90’s, predominantly Lumina’s and Lumina vans and I found them to be generally very reliable. I replaced very few rear calipers, but I’ve always thought rear disc on a street car was dumb. 

That thing was a steal for a grand
