New rod bearings knock or timing chain or dead engine knock? Answer that and you will know what to do. That pan is accessible after a cross member is removed. Timing components are a more common problem. I would take it.

SX4 is one of my weekly CL searches. Always excited to see several adds. Always disappointed they are all Suzuki.

I own the Suzuki and I hoped to see AMC as well. Both are interesting thou.
Did you check it out yet, I would totally work on another of these.
I have not looked at it, I'm still trying to resist. I already have 2 projects waiting that need engine or transmission removal work.
