I have a Merkur XR4TI that I got several years ago, and started collecting parts to build for the $2000 challenge. I was paralyzed several years ago but still wanted to build the car and have someone else drive it. Sadly the time has come to pass this on to a fellow GRMer that can build it for the challenge for me. I would love to see one of you enter it if possible, otherwise this could be a donor for a locost, if people still build those.
The car is currently an automatic car, I do have a spare automatic transmission. I also have a T-5 manual that I was planning on swapping in along with all cables and a manual Merkur pedal assembly. I have a big VAM and larger injectors as well as a volvo head to possibly do the head swap. I also have an LSD to install in the differential. And various other sundry parts.
Asking $1000
I am located in Southwest Michigan
I wanted to offer it up here to you guys before listing on Craigslist or FB marketplace
I'm so glad I'm not buying any more cars. GLWS.
Sorry to hear about your condition. Tell me a little more about the car. Does it run and drive? Is it rusty? What works, and what does it on the car? I loved these things when I was growing up, always wanted one.
I have a limit. I am currently over it.
Good luck with sale. No one inform Gumby of this car okay.

In reply to SKJSS (formerly Klayfish) :
The motor runs fine, but the transmission in it currently only works in reverse. I was planning to swap to the T5 but I was able to get another C3 auto from a junkyard. So I have both trans with it. The Dash is trying to do a tsunami impression but otherwise the interior is in pretty good shape. Its mostly a "ran when parked" scenario, but that is the sister mag.....
The biggest issue is that the car and spare parts are taking up garage space and this is just in the way.
Wow, I would be snatching this up if it weren't for my current lawyer fees....And my wife would kill me. So many possibilities for me, kids first car, drivetrain swap my 89 notch, part it out, drive it as is.

Dibbs.
I think this would make a great car for a Father and Son project for my 14.5 year old.
I'll send you a PM with contact info.
I haven't seen an XR4TI that clean since they were in the junkyards in the 90s. I always liked them and that one looks great.
My uncle had one he bought new in the mid 80s. I always remember the little knob for the radio fader/balance.

I am amazed this beautiful beast is still fair game. Good thing my son is only 12 as the father son project idea caught my attention.
Very tempting...and wouldn't be a crazy drive from Nashville...

Is the sale pending to me?
I'll send another PM.
Edit: did I miss your contact info in the original post?
I think you missed it Indy, bummer as that looks really clean!
In reply to Indy - Guy :
I had a clone to this car about 5 years ago. Definitely a great father son project!

Kinda crazy though since it'd be in reverse.
Sold, but sadly not to me
