I'm guessing it's beat and needs a lot of TLC. Trade in probably offered them $2.5k for it so the seller is trying to squeeze more out of it.

Interesting that they don't know what engine is in it. Sure isn't a 1.8l.

-hears someone else with a Miata describe it as having a 1.8L engine
-Makes a logical leap
-decides his Miata has a 1.8

I'd be surprised if 1 in 20 adult American men could describe what engine displacement means.
