Just saw this on the 986 Forum. Price looks great for a 133k mile S these days. In Charlotte NC area. I have no knowledge of the particular car or owner. As always, PPI recommended by a good Porsche shop unless the money is trivial to you. ...I know that someone here is going to want it.
That is honestly crazy cheap. Makes me think there must be more of a story to it.

I've noticed 986 prices going back down recently

In between Thanksgiving and New Years is totally the time to buy a convertible sports car. I paid $7,200 for my 986 S the day after Thanksgiving 2018. This price is great and expected! 986's only bring dumb money when they are stupid low miles.

Solid points, but still. Hagerty valuation tool has a #4 condition (worst they have) at $11.5k. This is 65% of that price? That still seems very low.
Or maybe I just want these cars to be worth more becuase I'm going to sell mine in the spring.
Hey, I know this is odd but would you mind messaging the seller on the 986 forum for me @AAZCD-Jon ? I joined 986 a few weeks ago when I saw the posting but the admins don't seem to verify new accounts over there anymore and I'm really interested in the car...
Yes, I had the same problem. I joined the the forum but my account has never been verified.
bahnanha, if you want, I've got an '03 Boxster for $6k. Rebuilt title but looks and drives great

I'll post a link to this in his for sale thread. I already messaged the seller once with someone else's contact info (SKJSS's) and never received a reply back. It may be sold already or he is not very active at selling it.
In reply to AAZCD-Jon (Forum Supporter) :
Thanks for that, yeah I would have to imagine it sold for that price point.
I'm really looking for an S at the moment @SKJSS, but I'll keep it in mind!
It's a shame the forum isn't adding new members, it seemed like a good group of people/forum
FYI, the seller just posted a little more detail; IMS & clutch recently done + coils and plugs etc, suspension probably due for a refresh, CEL is on with no details or code listed. His phone number to contact him via text is now posted in the ad. http://986forum.com/forums/boxsters-cayman-cars-sale-wanted/82774-2002-boxster-s-6spd-sale.html#post650172

Honestly if it was closer to me I'd probably buy it. The fact it's all the way across the country is saving me from making a bad decision

Well that has not stopped me before......
I may be a bit late to the party as I didn't follow up when Jon sent his info, but I just texted him.

I've got rotten luck buying cars from out of state, even after having PPI's done at reputable shops. So I just don't do it anymore. Between the time and cost to go fly out and look at it, then the cost to ship it back to me, it's not such a great deal anymore.
Really depends upon what I am buying. For something like this, really would want to see it first, but for an older car where I expect to have to fix a lot of things, can be worth it. TR8 was a steal and worth twice what I paid as it was completely restored mechanically and 100% rust free from New Mexico as the seller stated. Scorpions were a mixed bag, but not nearly as rusty as the east coast cars so worth what I paid. Package of three GT6's for $5k delivered was also a steal as I sold two of the three and have a solid one to restore and more than covered my costs.

I bought the corrado basically sight unseen. My friend looked at it for me but not underneath it. It showed up in mostly as expected condition but the drivers rear quarter had more surprises than I expected and the chassis underneath was crustier than I thought it would be. That said it was pretty darn clean for an East Coast car, I've just been living in Colorado too long and expect cars to be basically perfect underneath now
