I'm ready to embrace the four doors and automatics of the E30 world. I've wanted one of those cars for so long, and all the two door 325is's with original paint and a clutch pedal are gone. I'm relaxing my standards.

That is understandable.
If I were to go with 4 door I much prefer the look of the e28 (which I have!) though mine is currently automatic, it is still a fun car to drive. Kick down button underneath the accelerator pedal is neat for the auto's. I will swap mine to manual someday though. I have most of the parts now, but I also have a buyer that will pay me good money, so they may disappear. Either way, the old BMWs are great. I would stay away from the e30 ix's though, I've heard a lot of issues with them.
Just found this manual coupe near me, looks pretty nice.

That's tough choice: i engine auto sedan vs. e engine manual coupe. As a daily the sedan has a much, much nicer interior; as a toy the coupe is begging for upgraded seats and an S52. Decisions, decisions....

If you swap the transmission and find an interior piece that fits you have a very nice e30
