$1000 seems like a good deal, especially if it does still run decently.

That's the shortcut to a homebuilt C8 knockoff. Drop that subframe and stuff it in a Fiero.

In reply to slowbird :

I think just making motor mounts is less work. Most of the fwd transaxles bolt up to the LS4.

I was following along okay until I got to the "before I got locked up" part and then I pretty much covered my monitor in coffee.

That's a rough one.  Front bumper cover is white (Impala not Monte.)  Rear bumper cover is primer.

I genuinely didn't know that there was a FWD Monte Carlo V8.  Hmmmm

Yeah, I think there was that, the Impala SS (Hot Rod garage did a twin engine version), and the Pontiac Grand Prix GXP.  No Buick version, though.

Google says 0-60 in a (not terribly) blistering 6 seconds.  Doesn't seem like much for LS power, is it just the weight or what?

It'd be a good donor for a lot of stuff........or swap the engine into a Aztec for LOLs.

Probably a combo of weight and FWD traction.

Buick LaCrosse Super had the LS4 as well, they were a lot less common than the GXP and SS cars though.

Cool, learned something new today, and another possible sleeper car to look for when I’m ready for a new project.

In reply to KyAllroad (Jeremy) :

They used every trick they could to keep the torque low in an attempt to help transaxles survive a warranty period. It's also not that light, very tall gearing, and front wheel drive.
