While searching for parts for my Gen3 Montero tonight, I came across this early model that looks real nice.
Not ultra cheap at $4k but the exterior looks great.

I wonder if people on CL in north FL notice the Challenge effect every fall.
I think Ohio feels The Stampie Effect and his half trailer load that's headed south.
I was thinking no way is it half a trailer load then I remember that one thing that'll take up most of the room.
There's actually a very complete one in the Upullit South Omaha yard near me, if anyone wants pictures or to work something out.
That is a very clean example, still has the factory Mikuni carb with air pump. Front hubs look original too, auto-lockers. Wheels are not original, but the spare is.

Not cheap but they also don't get any cheaper than that in that kind of condition. They have bottomed out and won't get cheaper. Mine is not as nice and i paid $800 for it non-running but it pretty immediately became worth ~3k+ once running with some nice wheels/tires on it and that one looks worth the 4k easy. Compare that to what a decent XJ goes for these days, too.
