I was looking at a different car and the seller has this on sale from a friend of his:

It's a '72 or '73 Rolls. Original paint and red leather interior, both very clean. 68,000 miles on the odo. That is not working but I would bet the car has well under 80,000 on it from the looks. For sale by the original owner through this guy as a consignment.

A mechanic put the wrong kind of hydraulic fluid in it, so as a consequence the entire hydraulic system has been gone through and every seal replaced. Has a minor PS leak now but otherwise everything works.

It's a beauty and the paint is original and shiny. If anybody is interested, I can put you in touch with the seller.

Nothing I can bring home, but if you can; my friend gets them in his shop and tells me some parts cross over to the Crown Vic catalog.

That's a great color combo. I'd like to own one of those things someday.

The Cobra is a big block replica, pre-Factory Five. Can't remember the name of the company, but one of the better ones. It's black and clean. The Mustang I didn't really look at, but it's probably a 289 car. Those are both owned by the guy who's shop it is and who is selling the Rolls on behalf of the owner.

This guy basically picks up 8-10 nice used cars a month, preps, and flips. I imagine the Mustang and Cobra could both be bought. I can put you in touch if you want.

If the brake systems in these are anything like the ones on the Bentley, and I suspect they are, putting the wrong fluid in would probably total the car out.

In reply to spitfirebill:

That's part of what I'm saying: Mechanic put the wrong fluid in, it made everything leak, mechanic didn't step up, so owner paid somebody else to flush the entire system, replace all the seals and soft bits, and put the right fluid in it. That's already been done, so the hydraulic system seals and stuff that would normally be 45 years old are much less than that. It doesn't need that work now.

In reply to Duke:

Cool. I just remember what a cluster berkeley the brakes were on the Gas Monkey Garage Bentley flip. The description on how they worked just left me speechless. I was once offered a Bentley for a "cheap" price. I checked on some of the parts prices. I will never own one.

That era Roller should have the dual calipers up front.

They didn't want to impact ride quality with anything less than an 80 series tire and the brakes weren't enough to stop the behemoth so they added another caliper to the fronts. I think this was to ensure the brakes would overheat often enough to cause other problems. Add in the zero feedback brake pedal and you don't even get any idea that they are overheated, the car just won't stop.
