Just saw you mention a jap chopper. The ol' 900 custom, with the dual range trans. is on the heavy side, but he's serious about the $49. It was for 200 for a long time. Not too far from me, and I think a couple of guys might even be closer.
Cheap

Forgot they were shafties. I rode a friends a few times back in the early '90s. Just remember the uniqueness of that dual range. And the ticket (and free ride to see the magistrate) after getting up to 90 in a 25 in Nags Head. By the time he caught up, it was 45, and I was down to 65, so that's the ticket he wrote, after he found out I was sober!

But there is an @$$ for every seat!
But you'd haves ta provide your own seat!
If someone had a non running complete one, it be worth a couple bills, as there are a few one off parts on those. But it would not be the average dude that would want one of them at all!
Back in the days it the dirt cheap hack job vee dub trike days, the front end would be heavy duty enough to speak to that crowd

I have a 87 rebel 450 (only made two years) with a clean title and a rusted out tank. I think I can find all the boxes the parts are in, but that's kinda small for us "stout" built folks. Lil' Stampie would love it!
Also a Honda V30 magna less disassembled. Still on the small framed side, but that water cooled V4 will scoot right along. Clear title, no spark. Not the right look for a chopper build IMHO.
Just thinking out loud, while the subject is here!

We actually have a JDM Honda CM450 in a crate but my dream is a wide inline 4 air cooled Japanese hardtail.
Good scooter porn is always welcome!
I do have a Honda 750 automatic. Not the bike, just the power train! That could go cheap as well. And in AL, I can get legal paperwork for the engine. You'd just need a manufacturer cert for your frame. Build your own, and I could get paper for that as well!
Set the engine aside for "when ya have time"
If we're looking for lil stampie I've got a 94 cb250 that I can make you a deal on. It would save me from the evil things I have planned for it after I get done with the engine swap in my WRX.

I remember seeing a picture of that... nice clean looking little bike. If he takes after his pops, and it seems he does, that's way to normal!
In reply to Mr. Lee :
No Lil Stampie has the same rule I had growing up. No street motorcycles. I gave up my last street motorcycle when he was a peanut in his mom's belly. Too many stupid drivers out there and figured I owed it to him to live until he's an adult at least.
LOL those evil things include Mitas dakkar spec tires, dirt bike front end conversion etc. I have this stupid idea to build a custom "dual sport" out of a street bike the run the TAT with it. 250 thumpers do it all the time, should be cake for a 250 paralell twin or something.

Yeah, it's listed in here somewhere. I got tired of playing with the village idiots on FB with it, said hell with it. only costs me $150 a year between tag and full coverage insurance on it. I still ride it to the store now and then.

I always heat the same thing all the way back to the very early '80s when I got hooked. And don't blame anyone for that. But I also found that extremely "defensive driving" and situational awareness eliminates 99% of that problem. That is why I'll no longer have even one drink when riding. Including the next morning!
But for the grace of God, I would not have survived the early years of gaining those skills (or riding sober!) so I definitely would not want my kid learning to ride in today's traffic!

I have not stooped to an ad on FB for mine! I did go for Craigslist, but I'm an old hand at weeding out the scammers, and the K75S is enough of a nicth market, I have not had to deal with the typ.
the few that have called, have not brought cash yet, either. But no azz hats! (Knocks on head - er - wood)

1000 is a bit high for a cheapskate like me (well, us) but there is your frame! and will be passing through there soon. Doesn't sound like he'd be too negotiable, but ya never know!
I also saw, for around the same money (again too high) a cb750 full on chopper basket case. Claims it has all the parts, though scattered all around his property. And tons of extras. But in the pictures, if you look really hard you can almost tell there is a frame under the... well, looks more like trash, but I'm sure he tells his wife its good parts... for, er, something.
My place makes yours look clean and organized... his makes mine look great!

A custom frame built motorcycle is pretty hard to get insurance on here at least. I had a 86 Harley shovelhead hardtail that I couldn't get insurance on. Thinking back it might have been the custom engine and it's numbers that caused the problem. Anyway I can get a weld on hardtail from Voodoo Vintage for Dan's titled and VIN'ed frame and still insure it as a normal bike.
An 86 shovel would be had to get papers on... there were a few leftover shovels in 85, but not many. I've never seen or heard of one in 86, so there might have been something hinky there.
Virginia was hard enough to deal with in the '80s; I hate to think what they are like now. I know FL has always had some od thoughts, and does some odd things with titles and registration. Even here in AL, it is getting tougher.
Big Brother, and all... (George wasn't wrong, just got his year off! And a few minor details.)
Did ya get the bike you were trying for?
here's some parts I had mentioned, but don't think I linked...
