Since I'm guessing the rear bumper top is roached, you'll probably end up installing a 916 rear bumper too. Hell hole looks solid. Based uponthe nutty prices these are going for, 5k is probably good
Is anyone near the area that could buy and hold this for me until I could take it home? I can send money.

I'm posting this one for comparison. Only asking $9k.

The original post is a steal at that price if running/driving and the hell hole passes the pick test and is just not filled with putty, could be an excellent car to finish.

If you buy this one, I'll buy your black one!
Looks like a fun driver. If the normal problem areas are ok I would run it as it is. Problem is most people start digging into rust repair and realize its way over there skill level. When it does come time to restore a 914 properly it gets expensive quick.

The problem is, I'd steal all the good stuff off the black one to put on a clean one. But if you're still interested in whats left, I'd be happy to send it on. I'm expecting this yellow one to be sold pretty quick and doesn't seem like I'm getting anywhere with logistics to be the new owner.
I called the guy. I'm third in line. First guy is going to look at it today. If it gets to me, I'll line up a transporter, but I don't see it happening.
Transport quotes are coming in around $850. I offered to wire the seller money today if he'd do it, but he's apparently already taken a deposit to hold it for the guy coming today. I'm now 2nd in line with my wire offer, but if the first guy bails, I'll have to wonder why.
Looks like at least a $10k car in my searches if the photos aren't hiding anything bad.

I doubt it's worth $900. I posted the 2nd ad to push interest in the first ad

Gulp! I hope it's as good as it looks in pictures. :)

Gulp! Me too! I spoke to the guy twice on the phone. 70 years old. He's owned several air cooled Porsches and VWs. He swears it's rust free. Says he's selling a few cars to pick up a 912E. He "sounds" honest on the phone - better than nothin.

Congrats
Thanks! I wasn't looking forward to rust repair on the one I own. I'm gonna swap over the cool parts from my current car and just cruise in this one with the air cooled 4. It would take significant work/money to make it outperform my other cars, and that's just not necessary.
