Found this mildly amusing. "Was driving this vehicle up until my shed collapsed on top of it."
Lowball them and make a Challenge car out of it. Preserve as much of the damage as possible while still returning it to a usable state. Call it an art car.

Perfect car to put a 917 body on!

And I was just looking at buying a second Miata for some shenanigans, but this sounds much better!
I did think about this for a moment, would be a great drivetrain donor for the 914 I just picked up, but then started thinking about engine management systems, so I'll leave this one to all of you to build into something crazy!

Any 70s or 80s beetle based fiberglass body.
It's got a clean title even (just mileage exempt)! I bought it, guy is fine with me taking a couple weeks before I can go out and pick it up. Deposit sent.
Backstory: One of my uncles has always been a car guy. Took me and my cousin to Lime Rock Park growing up, now we both volunteer there actually. He had always wanted a Porsche Boxster (way before the Cayman came out, now he wants one of those). He's retired, living very comfortable, could go out and buy a new one if he really wanted. But he's been browsing used and certified and scared of IMS bearings. It's been years. He likes to visit national parks and even a "cheap" 20-25k Porsche he just can't bring himself to buy because of all the vacations he could go on.
To make a long story short (too late), even though it's wrecked I will own a Porsche before he does. Me: 1

Sweet! Do I get enabler credit for this one, or had you already seen it before I posted it?

You get enabler credit. I was searching around FB marketplace and Autotempest for random vehicles last night. I stopped in here before heading to eBay, so there's is a chance I may have found it but I definitely saw it here first.
Need build thread! Got any wild plans brewing?
I always thought the last generation of new Beetle looked a lot like a 356. They just had the engine at the wrong end. Rebody the Boxter witha new Beetle shell-bam! New interpretation 356.
Less than a 1" difference in wheel base from a Karmann Ghia, although it looks like you'd need some serious flares to cover the tires.
or do this:
Karmann Ghia Boxster S

I'll start a build thread and link it here shortly. Plans so far are to pick it up next weekend. Then assessment of just how much is crushed and how much is somewhat repairable. One friend suggested cutting off the windshield frame (what's left of it) and build it like a speedster.

That was some serious tin work on that Ghia. Very much like the results.
That would have been the perfect donor to do a power train swap with my 99 base auto. Instant 2.7 manual and all the parts, harnesses, modules I'd need to go with it. Way beyond my scope in reality, especially since I've disavowed wrenching.

Karmann Ghia Boxster S
Yeah, I was thinking fat 914.
