This is a 1977 Puma GTE, located in Fort Worth, TX. This was featured in Readers Rides in GRM a few (many?) years ago. After that posting, I pulled the car apart to begin a ground-up refresh. At the risk of being cliche, other events in my life stepped in to take over and the car projects got pushed to the side. After a few years of trying to kick start things, it's obvious that these need to move on to more motivated wrenches to get them back on the road. With that said, here we go
Body
The body was originally metallic green and was stripped down to gelcoat prior ro refinishing. Pics look great, but the paint isn't. Lots of print-through, some spider-webbing, clearcoat drips, it has it all. Needs to be stripped and re-re-done. Frunk was modified to have an Outlaw-style gas filler. Included is the chrome gas cap and a brand new gas tank that will have to be modified to fit.
Chassis
The Puma originated in Brazil and was a fiberglass body set atop aircooled VW mechanicals. Chassis is a modified VW Brasilia. One of the highlights of the car is that the pans are in excellent shape! As a part of the refurb, pan was stripped down and cleaned and painted in flat black. Bottom of pan was bedlined. Also, chassis was converted over from swing axle to IRS. Included are a set of Porsche 944 Turbo trailing arms. Also included are 944 Turbo hubs and 944 Turbo brakes.
Engine
Car is equipped with a 1776 engine with dual DellOrto 40mm carbs. Engine ran when it was pulled.
Transaxle
The swing axle transaxle is included. Will be good for a core unit at this point.
Wheels/Tires
Included are all FIVE factory wheels! Rears are wider than the fronts, and there is a matching spare that is include. Also included are a set of chromed Fuchs for a 944 Turbo.
Interior
Headliner, carpet, and upholstery was removed and discarded. I have the original seats, the dash, and the door cards.
Misc
All glass is included, including a brand new windshield imported from Brazil. Other new parts that were imported include all badges and a set of chromed bumpers. Taillights, headlights, trim, etc. are included as well.
Pricing
Like everything in the Orphancars shop blowout, it's hard to price a car in pieces, let alone how do you price out cars that aren't very common? Willing to start negotiations at $9k. Bring cash, your trailer, and let's talk if you're interested. Can pull some parts out and drop the price, if that will work.
