His name is Dave, you know
I will be watching this auction closely- I've already bought one crusty rally car from across the country, I can do it again!
That is what I get for posting on 2 hours of sleep and insomnia. D'OH!
I got my Dave Coleman and Matt Hoffman crosswired.
I remember reading and enjoying his rally articles years ago. I remember enough to know there is no way I'd want to buy this car and try to use it in competition

I know the Rx7 was rough but based on the pictures on ebay, the 5-and-dime looks, well rougher!!!
"Shoebox of destruction"- I love it!

Understatement of the day. And Chris has a way of breaking "rough" cars in short order, to boot :)
"The left rocker panel is bashed in from losing the 2WD CRS championship in 2002. I had it in the bag until the final stage of the season, where I hit an unexpected patch of snow at an unwise speed, bifurcated a control arm on a watermelon sized rock, didn’t lift, continued at a very unwise speed, and finally exited the road when the left front wheel exercised its newfound independence. I landed on a berm on that rocker panel while still traveling at that unwise speed and somehow managed not to roll again."
True enginerd speak...how many here know what "bifurcated" means without a dictionary? Coleman still has it!
My friend bought Dave's B13 SE-R (also of SCC fame), and we drove it cross-country from LA back to CT. Dave was nice enough to mount and balance the tires for him so we could get in the car and drive.
Dave knows how to set up a a car, he was responsible for the ND's final US calibration.
Dave's car is for sale again, now in NY!
If the dumb motherberkeleyer hadn't painted it I would be all over this. I might win the auction anyway.
Honda Civic transmission?
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine :
It's a Civic radiator or radiator fan if I remember correctly, looks like they copied the old ad... poorly.

"Cut out the door bar" :banghead:
This car made me want to rally. I saved all the issues of the magazine with it for way too long.
