In reply to sleepyhead the buffalo :
Base model V8 had a Y-block, with a couple FE available as options, I believe.

heh. yeah, I poked around wiki after posting that and found the answer was "yes"
I guess, buy this... find some forlorn 70's LTD... and stir? edit: how much spare FE stuff do you have laying around VCH?
In reply to sleepyhead the buffalo :
None, unfortunately. Seller told me this was originally a 352, so FE engine.
I shared this link around, so hoping for a good ending to this.
a-a-a-a-nd, sold!
which is a good thing... because I'm so far out of position to acquire this thing, describing how far includes the word "ocean"
but, I am banging around at the idea of picking up some kind of pre-68 FoMoCo to tinker/learn with. The father-in-law has a '54 Lincoln Capri that sleepywife and I used as part of our wedding, that supposedly heads our way someday. And, something similar to this Merc would probably be a good "learn all the lessons on car".
No access to the book of faces... How much was that? I hope to one day put my wife in a 50 - 60's wagon... would be a good home for a 390 FE I've been carting around for 15 years. But might be awhile!
