Great deal there

Yup. I think prices might be starting to go back to normal? Don't see it everywhere, but enough places that it seems like a trend
I really wish I had some practical way to get this. The next few weeks are out, and I'm not sure where I'd put it if I could haul it up here. GMT400 prices are still going nuts up here.
Yeah, its a good price, but...
The desirability and the things driving pickup prices seem to be:
1. 2nd row
2. 4wd
3. V8
This seems to have none of those things. I suspect it's a 4.3L, 2wd, single cab low enough spec to have crank windows and no tach. There might be a dent on the bed near the gas filler. It says it needs tlc but doesn't say that it actually runs. That tlc could be the need for a trans, etc. I'll bet that it's more than needing the ripped seat repaired. So, yesterdays moss covered, non-running $500 truck is now a deal at $1,250
In reply to John Welsh :
The passenger side bed rail is hammered, as well. The W/T is the "Work Truck" low level spec.
Definitely a long bed. And the W/T package. Anyone who desires one should get serious about buying soon. The value of all GMT400s is getting out of hand quickly including the low spec trucks like this one.
I happen to like my long bed W/T spec truck even after owning every possible variety of GMT400.
Of course, if you want 4dr, 4wd, V8 up north for $1,500 here's what it buys you!
Ads like this will often say, "some rust" which implies there are still some parts that don't have rust. This one accentuates the trans only has 75k miles!
Some rust:
If you just want a southern, rust free body....'90 stepside asking $2,000.
I couldn't find a picture of my 1990 square body, but for $2k I got a rust free long box, highest trim level with cruise, air all that and just 63,000 miles. Came out of Ellijay, GA.
I bought my F-150 short box in Tucson, straight six 4 speed, ZERO rust. The relief of not chasing rust, replacing brake lines and just plain ugliness is well worth the trouble.
Top photo is after a little wax....
BTW, top trim square bodies have this cool light on a spool and 10ft. of line under the hood. Go to a junk yard and they're the first thing missing. =~ (

That's a 1500 HD, which means 6.0 and 4L80E. I'd say that's worth $1500 all day long.

Typically they were the largest engine available on that weight capacity (1500, 2500, etc,) every other option that would make towing and hauling easier, and virtually no other options. I think some of them didn't even have radios.
As far as the largest engine and towing package. The W/T was neither of those.
The W/T was a cost cutting specification truck. Utilitarian grille. Lack of side molding. Black items in place of chrome. 4.3 V6 engine. Rubber floor in lieu of carpet. Even the headliner is more basic.
If anyone is curious here is the brochure for the above truck. It shows what is standard and optional for the various trucks that year.

When I'm back at my laptop I can post much more info from GM heritage center showing every detail of the package. Right now I'm hindered by being on my phone.

Most of them I've seen were also 4.3 engine with manual transmission.
In reply to Cousin_Eddie (Forum Supporter) :
Good friend bought a W/T new in 89. Had to pay extra for the 305. And cruse. Did have ac, cruse control and a radio, but I don't know if he paid extra for them. The 4.3 would have been standard. The W/T was advertised as meaning work truck, but really meant "cheapest no option truck available"
In reply to John Welsh :
Unless it's a scam, I'd rather go for this: Actual 1500 than that rust bucket bent in half. To pull the 2500 suspension out of for something else, price was ok, but parts truck only.
The $500 '89 may be legit, but I have no clue.
