The V12 reached its apotheosis in 1971 when Jaguar introduced it to the world (I'm pretty sure no one had ever built one before).   Everything that has come later is a pale imitation.  I've got one in my race car, one in my street car, one in my school bus, and one in my food processor and they continue to set the standard for smoothness and power.   Why, I've had the school bus up to a rock-solid 130 when we were running behind one day and there was nary a peep from any of the kids on board.

Sadly, apparently there was industrial espionage at Coventry. I can't believe those Bavarian chiselers were allowed to bring this to market.   Of course, it needed two computers to run successfully, further proving that the Germans just love complexity for the sake of complexity.   One can only imagine how much more fantastic the Jag engine would be with an extra computer.
