After owning many of these cars since buying my first wagon new in '94, I can confidently say they are neither of those things.
I had a weird dream once about building a Land Speed SW2. In the dream, they had a super-low cd when you shaved the roof rack and added wheel covers, like .09. Adding an ebay turbo got the horsepower over 450. It was a weird dream indeed.
LOL, I had a friend who was an attorney back in the 90's early 00's. She special ordered two manual SW2's with leather interior in a row. When the first one came in the dealership owner came in to hand it over personally. He said he wanted to see who would order a twin cam, manual wagon with leather. It was simply a does not compute for everyone in the dealership at the time.

There was a land speed ecotec in the early 00s. I think it was in a saturn too.
Basically the team just cranked nitrous until something broke, then they made that part a little better, and went for more. By the time they were done I think they were at 700+ hp through the ecotec on nitrous
I remember when Gassers, custom vans, and beat, but original paint (patina) were laughed at. Give it time. It will be desirable. Eventually.
