As subject, after spending another Sunday driving close to 500 miles to look at overpriced, overdescribed sheds I was wondering if any GRMer out West had any of the following cars for sale (in order of preference):

  • RX8, manual, preferably Sport with no sunroof
  • AE86, preferably hatch, will consider a coupe. Well executed GT-S swaps are fine
  • Miata. Well, if I must
  • R53 Cooper S

I'm fine with a car that has a salvage title as long as it was repaired properly, I'm also fine with sensible mods. I purposely want to avoid CL as I pretty much had no luck recently with finding decent cars for a decent price on there and wasted a ton of time looking at crapcans for non-crapcan prices.

Budget is about $6k-7k, looking anywhere on the West Coast in a weekend's drive from Reno, NV. That should cover Seattle to San Diego and inland to about Phoenix and Salt Lake City.

Let me know what you have!

I have a 2002 Miata that was going to be for sale around April 1. Blue on black cloth, 100% stock, never hit, unmolested, some normal wear/tear but a rust free great driver that needs nothing, new soft top, matching hard top, and an extra set of wheels with snow tires, though this was a VA/NC car until just this year. I am in PA, which is quite far away though, but I am at the bottom end of your budget range.

Thanks, but once I factor in the transport cost it wouldn't really work for me. I won't have the time to fly out myself to pick it up.

Thought you said you didn't fit into a miata?

I don't fit them very well and if I buy another one I'll probably have to get the local race shop to custom make me a roll bar to fit properly around me in the correct seating position.

Mind you, a car you don't fit well beats having to trackable car at all, because I'm still trying to work through the MR2 and it's unlikely to be done by mid-March.
