Hey guys,

I just sold my Legacy and know that quite a lot of you all have experience in the FB RX7. I've wanted one since high school and figure now is the perfect time to finally pull the trigger. My budget is $8k and I've always wanted a GSL-SE but if the fine folks here tell me I'm crazy for wanting that I'm willing to understand why. Does anyone have one for sale?

This one was on FBM yesterday. Now gone. :-(

I saw that one actually! There's a few decent non 5-letters around that seem to be a decent deal but I've only been looking at the SEs for now. Maybe that's a stupid thing to be doing admittedly as I've never owned a rotary but still

No, not at all stupid.  I put 287K miles over the course of 18 years on my '87 RX-7 which had the same 13B engine and it was highly reliable.  The 12A engines are also highly reliable but you only get 100 hp compared to 146 hp and they're carbed rather than fuel injected so the efficiency is lower.

Having said that, I don't think you'll get much of a GSL-SE for $8K...for comparison, a GS with poser GSL badging, automatic, with 96K miles in decent condition sold for $7,400 last November on BaT.

A nice GSL-SE 5 speed seems to be a $25K to $30K car these days...I currently own a bone stock, clean '83 GSL automatic with 48K miles and honestly, although I wouldn't take an $8K offer as a low ball insult, I'd need a couple grand more.

Maybe I rely too much on BaT for valuations and great deals are out there...good luck.
