He said the transmission has been replaced twice and the transfer case once.  That gave me some hope.  I have some good love for the 4L60E, but they were never overkill in a 5500-lb van.  Nice to know that his lasted an average of 200k or more

In reply to John Welsh :

If I don't roll mine in some strange off-road mishap, I hope it lasts that long too.

BTW... had to ressurect this thread.  I had taken a grandfather clock to a repair guy.  He delivered it back to me today in a van very similar to the one I bought.  Only difference was that his was tan, an 04, and had 511k on it.  I told him I got mine for $7000, 2006, with 90k.  He darn near lost his mind.  He instantly offered my $9000 plus his van in trade.  Before he left, he was up to $10k plus the van PLUS an 04 suburban with 140k.

I told him no.  I'm simultaneously really proud of myself and also wondering how stupid I am.  I could have traded my $7000 van for a $2500 van, a $6000 burb, and $10k cash.  I think its because I don't want a 511k van and a burb.  I want MY van.

He is going to give me some snow tires on steelies since he is selling his van for a Sprinter.

I have a guitar that was my main guitar in my old band. It's a plain Jane Epiphone Les Paul Standard and at the time it was about a $600 guitar. It's got a distinctive tone and sounds great and I was offered a lot of money for it a few times. The 2 times that really stuck with me is at a gig in Tacoma where a guy offered me $1k and a pretty new Gibson Les Paul Custom which is a $2k guitar. When I said no he offered me " whatever figure you are comfortable with". I still said no because I really liked it.

Years later I found out it was built in the Edwards plant and had an Alder top instead of Maple which is why it's a bit unique.

Sometimes it's better to just keep what you like, even if you were offered about $20ish k for it

Hmm, I wonder if this means used AWD Ford Transits will be in high demand in 10-15 years?

Back in 99 when I bought my 1948 Ford COE, when I told people I paid 6K for it dozens of folks offered to double that for it. I know most were talkin' trash, but several had the cash to back that up. 60K miles later, it would take several grand to get it back to the average condition it was then, and I'd be lucky to get my 6 back out of it!

Do I regret it... HELL NO!!! Drive it and enjoy it!
