I have a MKIII shifter housing, which is set back about 2.5" inches compared to a MKII shifter. I would like to trade someone with a MKII W58 who needs the extra set-back for their swap.

And I forgot... I will try to remember when I get home Monday. I am out of town until then. Sorry.

So apparently removing the shifter selector off its shaft requires separating the case.

It's totally cool if I'm asking too much here. I can probably make what I have work with some modification of the shifter I have, though it will eat into the bench seat. I'll pay for shipping if someone is down to swap parts, or if you're close enough we could just swap transmissions altogether.

So apparently I have a mkIII transmission. Oh well

Have you looked for a truck shifter? Most came with a w series and has a much more forward shift
