The more a car races, the more history that comes with it. That’s exemplified by this 2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello Prodrive. It entered the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times, the most among any 12-cylinder car carrying the prancing horse.

Who has steered this Ferrari in Le Mans competition? British Touring Car Championship winners Alain Menu and Rickard Rydell. Le Mans class winners Christophe Bouchut, Tomáš Enge and Darren Turner. Even a World Cup-winning alpine ski racer, Luc Alphand, had a turn behind the wheel. However, perhaps the most notable driver to sit in its cockpit was World Rally Championship winner Colin McRae.

While the Ferrari never won at Le Mans, it did score the class pole in 2002 and place on the podium in 2004. Overall, it has five victories in professional competition.

Find this 2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello Prodrive up for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated winning bid of $8,000,000-$9,500,000.
