Fewer than 30 examples survive of the Porsche RS61. This is one of them, and it’s got success behind it, too.

In 1964, it won the South African Sports Car championship with Dr. Dawie S. Gous. Before that, Hermann Müller used it in European hillclimbs and circuit races from 1961 to 1963. (As an aside, Müller’s claim to fame was winning motorcycle championships and was set to win the European Championship for Auto Union until World War II broke out.)

In addition to previous ownership by A. Dano Davis, owner of The Brumos Collection, the Porsche has also participated in numerous concours and vintage racing events.

Find this 1961 Porsche RS61 for auction at Gooding & Company, with an estimated value of $4,000,000-$5,000,000.
