If you remember the classic film The Love Bug, you might recognize this classic Ferrari that made a cameo appearance. In addition to its movie credentials, this 250 GT also carries quite the provenance.
Who owned it exactly? Let’s start with its first owner, J.B. Nethercutt. The co-founder of Merle Norman Cosmetics is also known for his Nethercutt Collection. Nethercutt’s cars have won six Best of Show titles at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Other owners include British driver David Piper, who raced in three Formula 1 grands prix. His brush with filming fame ended in crashing a Porsche 917 during the shooting of the movie Le Mans, which resulted in the loss of part of one of his legs.
