What’s a suitable retirement gift for the first head of design for GM, Harley Earl? This one-off 1963 Chevrolet Corvette.

The special Corvette came straight out of the GM Styling Center while it was under the control of another legend in the automotive design world, Bill Mitchell. The Styling Center had built a show car for the 1964 World’s Fair, and Mitchell ordered a second one as a gift to Earl.

In addition to sharing much of what made the World’s Fair car unique (such as the side exhaust), this one came with other exclusive features like four-wheel disc brakes with a split brake master cylinder, a 1964-style hood, 1965 exterior emblems and three-bar knock-off wheels.

Find this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Harley Earl Styling Car up for auction at Mecum, with an estimated value of $750,000-$1,000,000.
