A quick glance, and you might think this is simply an early Porsche 911. Look closer, however, and you might notice many features not found on any other production Porsche from the time–features only given to this prototype 911.

Just a few of the notable handmade or specially built features on the car include a crank-operated mechanical sunroof, 356-style interior gauges, a hand-cut steering lock and hooks in the front trunk believed to have been used to hold extra fuel containers for long-distance testing.

Fitted from Porsche with a 1.6-liter flat-four engine “taken unaltered” from a 356 SC, this prototype 911 is reported to have spent time in Brumos Collection and even took first in its class at the Amelia Island concours.

Find this 1967 prototype Porsche 911 for sale via Elferspot for 549,900 Euros, or approximately $589,240.

Besides long distance testing mileage capability, having the capacity to easily add and remove weight in the front would be very useful in handling / weight bias tests.
