When Aston Martin launched the V8 Vantage, it was billed as “Britain’s First Supercar,” with a top speed of 170 mph. Part of that feat came from its aerodynamics, including its rear spoiler, aka fliptail. Most examples came with that spoiler integrated into the bodywork, but the first 16 did not. Instead, they were furnished with a bolt-on version, and this is one of those select few.

This example comes with a matching-numbers V8, but it has been converted over to left-hand drive.

The Aston Martin underwent more than $50,000 in servicing relatively recently. Before that, in 2017, it underwent a “meticulous” three-and-a-half-year restoration.

Find this 1977 Aston Martin V8 Vantage ‘Bolt-On Fliptail’ for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of $150,000-$200,000.

It reminds me of a 1978 Ford Mustang. Sorry
