Let’s face it: Most of us won’t enter outer space, but that doesn’t mean we can’t live vicariously through the people who did.

Case in point: The Corvette driven by Alan Shepard–the first American in space–is heading to the auction block.

Leased through GM for a grand total of $1 a year, this Corvette was special-ordered with the L89 Tri-Power 427-cubic-inch V8 and four-speed manual transmission.

Watch this 1968 Chevrolet Corvette cross the block this Saturday, January 29, as part of Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction.
