Standing as one of 342 examples sporting the supercharged 5.0-liter engine, this Mercedes, according to the listing, had its body destroyed during World War II.
When purchased in 1960 by the Aalholm Automobil Museum’s owner, the Mercedes received a full body replacement. The Danish museum then became its new home until 2012, when the collection was liquidated.
From there, the new owner of the Mercedes had the car undergo another restoration, this time lasting 7 years and led by marque specialist Jim Friswold. Minnesota fabricator Cass Nawrocki also built the Mercedes a new steel Special Roadster body.
Following its upgrade, the Mercedes received best-in-show awards at Keels & Wheels Concours d’Elegance, Park Place Luxury & Supercar Showcase, Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival and Carmel Mission Classic.
In fact, Jay Leno and Donald Osborne even highlighted this car as a part of the Pebble Beach Classic Car Forum in 2019.
