Actors, directors, producers and writers often get the most credit in Hollywood, but no film would ever make it to the screen without the help of “below-the-line” workers: teamsters, set constructers, camera operators, sound engineers, craft services–the list goes on.

While you won’t see his name in the credits, Swiss-born Alfred "Fredy" Zurbrügg was the chief cook during the filming of “Le Mans,” tasked with ensuring both cast and crew were well fed during production.

Zurbrügg was apparently very good at his job, as his culinary skills impressed Steve McQueen so much that the famed actor gifted him this Series II Jaguar E-type.

Owned by Zurbrügg for over 50 years, the E-type is offered in “unrestored original condition."

Find this 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster up for auction from Mecum on January 18, 2025.
