This 1915/1919 Mercedes 22 has a connection to Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Peace Prize. The car was once owned by Swedish industrialist and engineer Rudolf Lilljeqvist, who helped execute the will of Nobel to create the prestigious award.
The Mercedes comes with its original, 4-cylinder, 5.7-liter engine. It’s paired with a four-speed manual. The chassis has kept its original specifications. Despite being more than 100 years old, the car only has around 52,000km (32,311 miles) on it.
Lilljeqvist ordered the car in 1914 with special modifications, mostly for going hunting with it. That includes 10cm more ground clearance, a raised exhaust system and a widened track from 142cm to 154cm. Other factory mods include electrical lighting and a lockable exhaust. It finally got delivered, as new, to Lilljeqvist in 1919, after World War I concluded.
The car comes with a wealth of documentation, both historic photos and original documents, as well as of the restoration.
