Rare for its headlights? | 1959 Lancia Flaminia Sport by Zagato for sale

RM Sotheby’s calls this Lancia Flaminia “a true joy to drive” and “offers the perfect combination of looks, performance and Italian sophistication.”

This car is just one of 99 “Pre-Series” Flaminia Sport cars bodied by Zagato, which features the distinctive covered headlights that Italy eventually outlawed. It also sports a double bubble roofline that accentuates the curvaceous body.

The current owner of the car outfitted it with a Flaminia Supersport 2.8-liter engine, with period-correct original Flaminia components. A complete and original 2.5-liter engine and transaxle also comes included with the sale.

i used my flaminia zagato 3c--'63--as a daily driver.  then i bought a '65 396/425hp corvette coupe that i drove daily for about a month.  when i got back in the flaminia i thought 'this italian sophistication will of course outcorner the vette.'  i barely kept it on the road after sailing into a mediumspeed curve at the same speed i'd driven the vette the day before.  i learned a lot in those few seconds!
