Hi everyone- this car has for sale for a while. It seems awfully cheap for the condition it is in. Are these interesting cars? Do they have any redeeming qualities?
Thanks- Cory

That is what I was thinking 914driver. You can't pick up the biggest piece of crap from the 60s for that price. I just can't seem to find out much on what the driving experience is like. There are no modern reviews of driving one except for a guy who has swapped in a S2000 drivetrain into his Minx.

Hahaha. That was the same exact thought that popped into my head.
I am guessing it has the exact drivetrain of an MGB, so I suspect driving it would be just like an MGB with a hardtop and a bit more interior room.

Why would you guess that when it's a Sunbeam / Hillman badged product? Austin / Morris had nothing to do with the Rootes group. Also the whole "engine does not equal handling" issue...
I am just assuming all dem' Englesh' turp' kurs' be the same.
My experience has been there is not a tremendous variation in engineering and even engines in non-exotic British cars of that period. I guess I am wrong.
Hell, there is not exactly a lot a variation in American cars of the period...
What do the new X brand US cars look like? V8, on frame construction, leaf spring rear end you say?.... shocker!
In reply to aircooled:
Oh, I'm sure it's not crazy different, I'll agree. It's just not from the same company.
To test the handling theory, I just now looked up shocks for a 1967 Sunbeam Minx. The resultant pictures show tubular. MGB's were lever shocks. I have to think that a stock Minx would be at least as good to drive if not better if they used "real" shocks.
In reply to shadetree30:
I agree, an Imp would be cool. I'll pass on the MInx though, but do hope it finds a loving home.
Am I going to be the first to guess that there's either a missing zero in the price on the ad or this is a scam?
That car looks WAY to nice to be $2,100 here where I live (the midwest)...and I can't imagine what it would bring out where it actually IS.
???

That's what they go for. They just aren't that attractive to the enthusiast market (or any other). Same with Austin Cambridges, among others.
Re Imp - lovely but gutless engine and horrid swing axle suspension - been there, done them and never going there again.
Re 1950s British small sedans. If you think there isn't much difference between them all, and the MGB drivetrain is the exact same thing - are you sure you aren't on the wrong board? Rootes group stuff it totally different from BMC, and if all small sedans look the same to you, try out a Minx and then drive a Riley 1.5 some time. Perhaps you are just wilfully ignorant because you have no interest in older British sedans, which is fair enough, I suppose. To each his own.

Believe it or not, there are classic cars, even sporty ones, that are not British.

I know - I own several.
hhhhmmmmm. Long Island. Any chance this is a Sandy victim? That price looks way too good for the condition.
I bought it, some rust, but not a Sandy victim. Drove it from Amityville to eastern PA with no issues. A real unique car, turns lots of heads.
